2024 in Review

A little late in posting, but the end of the year got busy and kind of sick. Better late than never. I made fewer recipes this year, in part because I revisited several, but also incorporated more fish in my diet as recommended by my doctor. I also had a month of recovering from surgery and was instructed to really hit the protein which meant a month of meat. STILL, I managed 85 new recipes. Here's my top ten from 2024!

I really leaned into fresh pasta last year. Not the healthiest choice, but it made for the tastiest recipes.

As I was prepping the gnocchi, I was like, "is this going to be worth it at all? Couldn't I just pour the pesto over the gnocchi?" That version of me was stupid, because these were uniquely delicious.

This might have been the biggest surprise of the year. Who knew strawberry pasta sauce was a thing, and why didn't they tell the entire world???

There's no way this was healthy. It was so rich. Save for special occasions.

This year I also experimented more with #tofu. In the past I've avoided it because of my thyroid problems, but it looks like my numbers swayed so far in one direction, some soy did me good.

I love to use fresh produce. I literally only buy #blackberries from the farmer's market, and they were definitely put to good use with this recipe.

Did I already mention I had too much fresh pasta this year? Oh year, well here's more in the tofu category.

I tried some more Indian flavors. I was hoping it would sway the election. Alas. At least I got to eat some delicious dinners.

Our local Indian restaurants don't often have this one. I fell in love with it on a work trip, and decided to make it for myself. It is a decent amount of steps, but really not difficult.

Who doesn't love a fusion recipe? This super easy enchilada recipe relies heavily on a jar of tikka masala sauce and made for an east post-surgery exercise. Gonna keep jarred tikka on hand from now on, so I can pull this one out on "....maybe we could just order in" days.

And here's 3 more that just made me happy all over.

I tried to bring a little Baltimore and Eastern Shore flavor to the un-chicken and waffles. The only think I would change is, I would have left the fries in the waffle iron a little bit long. They sure did crumble and not keep a waffle shape. Still tasted good!

Made this one for a Thanksgiving appetizer and I'll be doing it every year going forward. It's super easy to prep the night before and throw in the oven while your guests settle in for football.

Our very favorite murder mystery series -- The Brokenwood Mysteries -- came back for a 10th season, and seeing as how it's based in New Zealand, I figured: I'm a bl*ody vego, why not take a stab at a vegan Mince and Cheese pie? Ambitious. Time-consuming. Delicious.
