Updated: Sep 5, 2019

Great news: if you have meat eaters, just use regular Italian sausage to keep them happy!

Veganized and adjusted an Ally's Kitchen recipe | Makes: 4 skewers | Time: ~20 min

Ingredients

2 small #apples, skin on cut into equal sized wedges

1 small yellow onion, cut into 4 quarters

4 vegan Field Roast Italian sausages cut into equal sized pieces (high in sodium, but what's one night?)

½ tsp salt, divided

1 ¾ tsp za’atar seasoning, divided

Parsley sprigs for garnish

Instructions

If using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 10 min.

Coat an outdoor grill with cooking spray. Heat to about 400 to 450 degrees. Proceed to preparing the skewers.

Each skewer will have (in this order): apple wedge, sausage, onion, apple wedge sausage, onion, sausage, apple. Coat each finished skewer (all sides) well with cooking spray.

Combine ¼ teaspoon salt and 1 ½ teaspoon of the zae’tar in a small bowl. Sprinkle on the skewers (both sides).

Place the skewers on the hot grill. Close the lid and let them cook about 4-5 minutes, then carefully turn them and cook another 4-5 minutes.

When done carefully remove to a plate and serve. Today, we served with Middle Eastern quinoa.
